Plan delivery or collection around the actual basket rule

The shopping guide gives a £40 home-delivery threshold and £25 for Click & Collect, with a £4 minimum-basket charge below the applicable amount. Add the actual slot charge when comparing totals; a lower surcharge threshold does not prove the named products are cheaper.

Ordinary delivery/collection orders can be changed until 23:00 the previous day under the shopping guide. Stock, slots and collection locations depend on the address. Optional Delivery Passes have their own current plan terms; compare the fee with the eligible deliveries you actually use.

Keep Express separate from the scheduled weekly shop

Asda Express uses third-party delivery partners and publishes no minimum spend. Its stated fee range is £8.50–£8.99, with delivery in as little as one hour and slots within the next four hours where offered. The available slot depends on item count, postcode and local store.

The site separately describes scheduled same-day delivery for orders placed by noon, for delivery after 16:00 where available. An Express quote and a booked weekly slot are different products; confirm the selected mode’s total and timing.

Control substitutions and use Rewards on its own terms

At checkout, the substitution help says you can turn replacements off for individual items or the whole order. Unwanted substitutes can be handed back to a scheduled-delivery driver or collection colleague, or left in the collection locker. Express couriers cannot accept returns; use the online self-service refund process for substituted items.

If a received substitute later proves unsuitable, current help describes an online request within three days, counting delivery as day 1, with contact needed later. Asda Rewards separately uses category/spend Missions to earn Cashpot rewards, which can be converted to vouchers for store or online use. Check the actual eligibility and voucher conditions rather than assuming every shop earns the same reward.

Planning questions

Are £40 and £25 bans on smaller Asda orders?

The shopping guide describes a £4 minimum-basket charge below the delivery or collection threshold. Include the actual slot fee too.

Does Express use the same minimum and return process?

No. Express publishes no minimum and separate fees. Its third-party couriers cannot take unwanted substituted items back; use the online self-service process.

Can I turn substitutions off?

Yes. Current help describes a checkbox at checkout for specific items or the whole order. Check replacements’ ingredients and suitability if you allow them.
