Compare the museum-and-tasting tiers

Each published package includes museum admission with an audio guide or guidebook and a tasting afterwards. Bronze lists four wines, €30 and 75 minutes, with cheese sticks, spinach breadsticks and dark chocolate. Silver lists seven wines, €55 and 120 minutes, adding dried fruit, sun-dried tomato, two Greek cheeses, chutney and chocolate. Gold lists eight wines, €90 and 150 minutes, with three cheeses and three cold cuts. These are advertised products, not checked seats or guaranteed bottle vintages.

Allow time for longer food and wine combinations

Platinum lists ten wines, €250 and 180 minutes, with four cheeses/four cold cuts and additions such as yogurt, capers, peppers and baklava. Diamond lists 12 wines, €450 and 210 minutes, adding Stilton, tartines and a broader pairing. Confirm portions, allergies, substitutions and the actual wine list rather than treating these as a standard restaurant meal. The winery’s wider purpose includes wine-history interpretation in its cave museum, wine production, a shop and group visits; an ordinary tasting photograph does not depict the museum displays. The family describes winemaking since 1870 and an underground museum 8 metres deep and 300 metres long, covering island wine history from 1660 to 1970. These are operator descriptions; world-best or unique-museum claims are not independently established.

Separate museum language from the tasting host

The tasting page lists 15 audio languages for individuals/small parties up to 10, while the museum page lists 14 audio/22 guidebook languages. Confirm your requested language; these counts do not describe the live tasting host. Groups of 10 or more have a separate room/sommelier arrangement, requiring confirmation of language, size and timing. A published large capacity is not current availability. The retained photograph shows people raising wineglasses, not an underground corridor. The identities of the people and the pictured wine labels are not established.

Match the appointment to seasonal museum hours

April–October museum hours are Monday–Saturday 09:00–19:00 and Sunday 10:00–19:00, last entry 18:00. November–March hours are Monday–Saturday 09:00–17:00 and Sunday 10:00–17:00, last entry 16:00. Those are museum admission cutoffs, not safe start times for every 75–210-minute package. Agree an earlier start and the actual closing arrangement. The Vothonas contact numbers are +30 2286031322, +30 2286030401 and +30 2286031355. Discuss mobility, children, host language and cancellation for the selected visit. The museum page says separate museum-only tickets are unavailable: admission is part of a tasting experience. The practical FAQ describes stairs in the underground route and says it is difficult for visitors with walking disabilities; discuss a tasting-only arrangement if needed. It lists free parking and a bus stop outside, plus holiday closures on Clean Monday, Easter Sunday, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Confirm the actual visit and do not use the FAQ’s general up-to-two-hour wording to shorten a specific 210-minute package.

Planning questions

Is museum admission included in the tasting packages?

Yes. The published tiers include the museum with audio guide or guidebook, then tasting.

Does 15-language audio mean a tasting host in 15 languages?

No. Published pages differ between 14/15 audio languages and 22 guidebook languages; confirm your requested museum language and the live tasting host separately.

Can the longest package start at last museum entry?

Do not assume so. Allow the full advertised duration and agree the actual start and closing arrangement.

Can I buy a museum-only ticket or assume step-free access?

The museum page says admission is only part of a tasting experience. The underground route has stairs and is difficult for walking disabilities; ask about a tasting-only arrangement and actual access.
