Choose the range and a real delivery slot

Ocado’s current storefront brings together M&S Food, Ocado own-range groceries, larger brands and independent products. Its scheduled online shop is distinct from rapid services such as Zoom; the range and available delivery depend on postcode.

Current help gives a £40 ordinary minimum and delivery fees from £0 to £8 depending on slot availability. A separate small-order charge is also published: £2 for £60 or less and £1 in the stated £60–£75 band. The boundary wording overlaps at £60, and articles disagree whether exactly £75 avoids the charge. Check those exact totals rather than assuming the slot fee is the whole charge.

The small-order exception article gives a £90 minimum for Christmas week, 20–24 December. Ordinary £40 / £60 scenarios do not describe an available Christmas-week shop. The service reviewed here is scheduled delivery; use its actual booking calendar and complete quote.

Compare the current Smart Pass payment period

Current help lists Anytime at £9.99 monthly, £55.49 six-monthly or £99.99 annually, and Midweek Tuesday–Thursday at £4.99 monthly, £27.99 six-monthly or £49.99 annually. These are recurring subscription payments, not delivery charges or guarantees of grocery savings.

For 2026, a specific Christmas article offers one free 20–24 December delivery to paying Anytime customers who signed up before 1 September 2026, claim the emailed voucher and remain active both when it is sent and when the order arrives. A new October signup does not establish eligibility. General pass help has broader Christmas exclusions, so use the specific offer and actual order conditions. No Christmas slot is guaranteed. Account settings show the next payment and let you stop auto-renewal after the paid period.

Use the order’s cutoff and inspect replacements

The confirmation email and Orders page give the actual cutoff. Current help says it is usually early evening the day before a morning delivery and later evening for later deliveries; notices can change it. Complete checkout again after every edit. After cutoff, the operator says it cannot add items.

For substitutions, current help says the price is that of the replacement delivered, rather than automatically the original item’s price. Email, and SMS if opted in, describes replacements before arrival. You can hand unwanted substitutes back to the driver and avoid their charge. Check the actual label, ingredients and final receipt; a range or service slogan is not a delivery-reliability or freshness test.

Planning questions

Is £4.99 a standard Ocado delivery charge?

No. £4.99 is the current monthly Midweek Smart Pass rate. Ordinary delivery help gives £0–£8 by slot, with a £40 ordinary minimum and a separate small-order charge. Christmas week has different minimum and offer conditions.

Do substitutes automatically keep the original price?

No. The current help says you pay the delivered substitute’s price. You can refuse unwanted replacements at the door.

Is there one universal late-night amendment deadline?

No. Use the specific cutoff in the confirmation email and Orders page; morning and later deliveries can differ, and notices can change the deadline.

What should I check at exactly £60 or £75?

Small-order help explicitly puts £60 or less in the £2 tier, but its adjacent £1 band also starts at £60. The avoidance article says minimum £75 while the definition includes £75 or less. Confirm the actual boundary charge. The guide’s £60 fee illustration uses the explicit £2 statement, rather than a verified checkout quote.
