Editorial place profile

Pirelli Tower

Palazzo Pirelli is at Via Fabio Filzi 22, beside the Central Station area. Lombardy’s tourism authority describes Gio Ponti’s design with collaborators including Pier Luigi Nervi, construction beginning in 1956 and inauguration on 4 April 1960. The building is the seat of the Lombardy Regional Council, not a daily public observation attraction. The authority describes the Enzo Jannacci Belvedere as used on special occasions, meetings, exhibitions and events. Check an actual announced opening or event before expecting access to its upper floors. Lombardy’s tourism authority describes its 31 floors and 127-metre height as the first in Milan to rise above the Duomo. Its 1956–1960 construction belongs to the post-war period; the older guide’s “late twentieth century” wording has been corrected.
