Editorial place profile
Santa Maria delle Grazie
UNESCO identifies Santa Maria delle Grazie’s church, convent and refectory as one architectural complex, begun in 1463 and modified by Bramante in the late fifteenth century. Leonardo’s Last Supper is in the refectory, rather than the church itself. The separate Last Supper Museum requires advance reservations for everyone, including infants and free admissions. Its information page specifies a 15-minute viewing period and arrival 30 minutes before the booked time. Visiting the church or its exterior does not include entry to the painting.
