Best Steakhouses in Venice and Nearby: Specialist Cuts and Casual Grills (2026)

Which steakhouse should you choose in Venice?

Start with Al Grill for a specialist steak dinner in San Marco or La Vacaria for Fiorentina and Tomahawk in Dorsoduro. On the mainland, L’Ombra Giusta offers an independent meat-led menu in Mestre; Roadhouse and the Old Wild West branches provide casual chain alternatives. Rossini is a broader pub option with Angus tagliata. Choose the area, cut and ordering format before comparing the price.

A shortlist for different meals

The main choices distinguish specialist meat restaurants from casual grill chains. Five Old Wild West entries are branches of one brand, not five independent specialists. Mestre and Marghera are mainland locations; Mirano is a separate nearby town. Rossini appears as a broader pub alternative. The order is thematic, without a fabricated quality score.

A nearby-town alternative

  • Old Wild West Mirano

A grill-chain option when already near Mirano

Old Wild West Mirano is a nearby-town alternative at Via Cavin di Sala 76. Include it when your plans already take you to Mirano, rather than treating it as a restaurant within Venice’s historic centre.

Its page links a High menu and publishes later Friday and Saturday evening closing than its other days. Check the actual branch menu and return journey. This is another branch of Old Wild West, not an additional independent steakhouse brand.

Choose the cut, the price unit and the location

For a central-Venice steak-focused meal, compare Al Grill’s range and weight-based cuts with La Vacaria’s Fiorentina, Tomahawk and aged rib-eye offering. For an independent mainland meal, L’Ombra Giusta’s current digital menu provides a meat-led alternative in Mestre.

Agree the weight before approving a large cut. At Al Grill’s listed €70 per kilogram, a 1.2kg Fiorentina would be €84 before separately charged extras; it sits within the published 1.1–1.5kg range. Wagyu’s €32 per hectogram means per 100g. Neither number is a complete dinner price or evidence that one restaurant is cheapest.

Use chain branches as location and format alternatives. Strada Nuova keeps the meal in the historic centre; Candiani and Porte di Mestre have different mainland schedules, and Nave de Vero marks Sunday closed. Mirano is a separate trip. Menu tiers and promotional terms should not be copied between branches.

Rossini’s operator-linked menu supports a 300g Angus tagliata at €26 plus a separate €3 cover, as part of a broader pub menu. Current managed and restaurant-supplied listings place the relocated business at Fondamenta San Giuseppe 930; use that booking context rather than the older San Marco address. Its American burger includes pork.

Dining questions

What is the best starting choice for steak in central Venice?

Al Grill is our starting choice for the range of specialist cuts and its San Marco location. Compare La Vacaria when Fiorentina, Tomahawk or its aged rib-eye offer better matches your preference. This is a recommendation by menu and practical fit, without a comparative tasting claim.

Which independent restaurant should I compare in Mestre?

L’Ombra Giusta has an active meat-led digital menu, including Fiorentine, costate and tagliate. Its separate all-you-can-eat meat offer has dinner-only and whole-table conditions; group menus have additional booking rules.

Why are several Old Wild West branches included?

They offer different locations, schedules and menu tiers within one brand. They are casual alternatives, not five independent steakhouse brands or a measured quality ranking.

Are all these restaurants in Venice proper?

No. The guide labels Mestre and Marghera separately from the historic centre, and Mirano is a nearby separate town. Choose the area before planning a journey or booking.

Can I assume all steak prices refer to one fixed portion?

No. Al Grill lists both individual portions and cuts priced per kilogram or per hectogram. Agree the cut’s actual weight, total and extras before ordering.

How we chose these restaurants

We selected existing Venice-area candidates by their documented food, location and dining format. Specialist choices and broader alternatives are labelled separately; multiple branches are identified as one brand. The recommendations express editorial fit, without numerical scores, customer-rating comparisons or a comparative tasting. Sources and menus were read on 8 and 16 October 2026, with each source’s check date listed below. No reservation, order or firsthand visit was made.
