Avis Car Rental – Miami International Airport

At a glance

Avis MIA publishes 24-hour opening at the Rental Car Center, with its counter on level 4 and cars and returns on level 2. Preferred service, driver documents and payment eligibility determine the collection process.

Finding the counter and returning the car

From arrivals, follow the level-3 moving walkway to the MIA Mover, then the Avis counter to the right on RCC level 4. Cars and returns are on level 2. The branch’s return instructions say to record mileage and fuel, leave the keys with the unlocked car and go to level 4 for the receipt. Its 24-hour opening does not itself promise how long a delayed reservation will be held.

Driver documents and available funds

The branch sets a minimum age of 21 and a $27 daily surcharge below 25, with vehicle-group restrictions. Bring a valid licence and the driver’s own accepted card. Its detailed terms require non-US licence holders to present a passport or Canadian enhanced licence, rather than relying on the shorter passport-or-visa summary. Debit pickup requires return-airline proof, an eligible group, credit screening and additional ID. Published holds include $250 for prepaid debit; other holds can include estimated charges plus extra funds, with higher amounts for longer rentals. Obtain the hold for the actual rate, duration and card.

Fuel, tolls and mileage

Avis’s fuel guidance allows self-refilling with a full tank and receipt; prepaying a tank leaves no refund for unused fuel. A short-distance fuel service has its own availability and receipt rules. Rates can include unlimited miles or a stated allowance with charges beyond it. Standard e-Toll and an all-days Unlimited product differ. The Florida guide’s $6.95/day illustration is labelled June 2024, so the MIA agreement should supply the current fee, cap, toll rate and enrolment conditions.

Cancellation, extras and the complete charge

Avis’s current reservation FAQ gives prepaid cancellation fees of $50 more than 24 hours before pickup and $150 within the final 24 hours; an uncancelled prepaid no-show forfeits the prepaid amount. Some card-guaranteed reservations have a separate $75 non-cancellation fee. Flight-cancellation relief requires airline and flight details in advance. Agency bookings follow that agency’s cancellation process. Optional protection, additional drivers, fuel, tolls and airport charges belong in the full comparison; a published average daily rate is not a quote for your trip.
