Best Miami Car Rental Companies for Airport Pickup (2026)
Which Miami airport rental pickup suits your arrival?
For published 24-hour Rental Car Center opening, start with Avis, Budget, SIXT or Payless. Eligible National and Alamo customers have expedited-service options; Enterprise publishes staffed hours and a separate return dropbox. Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty add RCC quotes with overnight counter gaps. Fox is off airport and adds a shuttle after the MIA Mover. The best fit combines the pickup route, arrival time, driver eligibility and complete rental charge.

How to use this shortlist
This shortlist covers Miami International Airport (MIA), with ten RCC providers and the separate Fox office serving MIA. The choices are grouped by pickup needs, rather than a customer-rating score or a cheapest-company ranking. Airport pickup here means collecting a rental after an airport arrival: the RCC brands use MIA Mover access, and Fox adds its own shuttle. These are different arrangements from a promised terminal-curb delivery. The cover artwork illustrates car rental and does not guarantee a vehicle model. Branch and policy information was reviewed on 17 October 2026.

Best for published 24-hour RCC opening
-
Avis Car Rental – Miami International Airport
Published 24-hour pickup with Avis Preferred options
Avis is a useful starting point for a late MIA arrival: its branch publishes 24-hour operation and separates the level-4 counter from level-2 cars. Existing Preferred customers can use the published member route, subject to their reservation and document requirements. The actual deposit and total price depend on the booking.

SIXT Rent a Car – Miami International Airport
A premium vehicle category with 24-hour RCC service
SIXT suits a renter choosing a particular vehicle category alongside round-the-clock RCC access. Its range includes convertibles, SUVs, minivans and luxury cars. Ordinary reservations are for a category or similar car; only a displayed guaranteed-model option reserves that model.

Budget Rent a Car – Miami International Airport
Fastbreak collection and published 24-hour RCC opening
Budget is the 24-hour RCC option for eligible Fastbreak customers: go to the level-2 booth and reader boards, while the regular counter is on level 4. Its MIA page also gives a fee exemption for licensed spouses or partners aged 25 and over, alongside restricted debit-card collection.

-
Payless Car Rental – Miami International Airport
24-hour RCC pickup with detailed local rental terms
Payless adds a 24-hour RCC quote with local policy detail worth reading before prepayment. Its MIA sheet specifies debit pickup at 25 and over for selected groups, restricted rentals at 21–24, and a separate 48-hour prepaid cancellation threshold. Compare the complete charge under those conditions.

Best for a defined collection or return process
-
National Car Rental – Miami International Airport
Eligible Emerald Aisle selection and Drop & Go
National is the member-service choice for eligible Emerald Aisle renters and Drop & Go returns. Its counter is on RCC level 4 to the left. The branch advertises after-hours return in its service summary but says it is unavailable in the detailed policy, so overnight return needs a clear branch arrangement.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car – Miami International Airport
Documented staffed hours and a separate return dropbox
Enterprise suits renters who want published collection hours and a separate key-drop return procedure. Its level-4 RCC counter is to the left, with daily staffed hours of 05:00–23:45. The documented return dropbox supports a different return plan from the staffed pickup window.

Alamo Rent A Car – Miami International Airport
Eligible online check-in and Skip the Counter
Alamo is the choice for eligible leisure renters who want to prepare check-in online. Skip the Counter requires advance activation, the required choices and accepted rental terms, plus a valid credit card. Its level-4 counter is to the right; the conflicting return wording needs separate branch instructions.

RCC quotes with an overnight counter gap
-
Hertz Car Rental – Miami International Airport
RCC access for a Hertz itinerary outside the overnight gap
Hertz is an RCC choice for renters comparing a Hertz car group or continuing to another location. Its detailed MIA schedule shows a 03:00–05:00 gap every day. That schedule matters for pickup even though the same page describes the RCC building as open 24/7.

-
Dollar Car Rental – Miami International Airport
Dollar quote with direct RCC access when the counter hours fit
Dollar is another RCC option when comparing a complete airport quote. Its branch address and current split schedule are published directly by the operator. Use it for a pickup outside the daily 01:00–05:00 gap; the lowest base rate alone does not settle the total cost.

-
Thrifty Car Rental – Miami International Airport
Thrifty quote with direct RCC access when the counter hours fit
Thrifty is another RCC option when comparing a complete airport quote. Its branch address and current split schedule are published directly by the operator. Use it for a pickup outside the daily 01:00–05:00 gap; the lowest base rate alone does not settle the total cost.

Best for comparing an off-airport shuttle option
-
Fox Rent A Car – Miami International Airport
An off-airport quote when the extra shuttle suits the trip
Fox is worth comparing when an off-airport quote suits your schedule and the extra transfer is acceptable. Take MIA Mover to the RCC, then its free shuttle from spaces 1 or 2. The branch publishes 06:00–00:30 opening and a separate overnight key-drop policy; returning the car does not by itself provide a shuttle outside business hours.

Choose the route, hours and eligible rate together
Start with the airport route. The MIA Mover station is on terminal level 3 between the Dolphin and Flamingo garages, reached by moving walkways. It connects to the RCC at 3900 NW 25th Street. Avis and Budget distinguish level-4 counters from level-2 cars; SIXT gives its own third-floor return route. Fox adds a shuttle from the RCC to its NW 24th Street Road office. Allow for baggage, the walk to the station, document processing and the return journey, rather than treating a short train ride as the whole pickup time.
Next, match the collection window. Avis, Budget, SIXT and Payless publish 24-hour opening. Enterprise lists 05:00–23:45 staffed pickup. Hertz has a 03:00–05:00 gap; Dollar and Thrifty have a 01:00–05:00 gap. National and Alamo’s conflicting after-hours-return text needs a branch arrangement. A return dropbox and a delayed-flight policy do different jobs from a staffed pickup counter.
Compare like with like: the same MIA pickup and return times, car group, driver age, residence and payment method. Include mandatory taxes and airport charges, young/additional-driver fees, chosen protection, child seats, fuel, toll administration and any one-way charge. A card hold affects available funds even when it is not the rental price. Online prepayment does not remove pickup eligibility rules.
Use a member or advance-check-in service only when the booking qualifies. Keep the original licence, required travel and identity documents, accepted card, branch return route and cancellation terms together. No matched-date rental quote or completed reservation was made for this guide, so the groups identify practical fits rather than measured price or service winners.
Questions before you choose
Which listed companies are inside the MIA Rental Car Center?
Avis, SIXT, National, Budget, Enterprise, Alamo, Hertz, Payless, Dollar and Thrifty are the RCC choices here. Fox uses a separate off-airport office and a shuttle from the RCC.
Where do I take the MIA Mover for car rental?
The airport places its station on terminal level 3 between the Dolphin and Flamingo garages, reached by the moving walkways. Follow Rental Cars and MIA Mover signs, then the chosen company’s counter directions at the RCC.
Which Miami airport car rentals publish 24-hour opening?
The reviewed Avis, Budget, SIXT and Payless MIA pages publish 24-hour opening. That does not guarantee a delayed reservation hold or waive document checks. Return arrangements and any date-specific exception belong to the actual branch booking.
Does Fox collect customers directly outside the arrival terminal?
Its published route uses the MIA Mover to the RCC first, then Off Airport Rental Car Shuttles and Fox spaces 1 or 2. The branch publishes daily 06:00–00:30 business hours; the separate vehicle key-drop return policy does not establish a shuttle outside those hours.
Can I skip the car rental counter automatically?
No. National Emerald Aisle, Avis Preferred, Budget Fastbreak and Alamo Skip the Counter have their own booking and eligibility conditions. Alamo’s option requires advance steps, accepted terms and a valid credit card; membership alone does not remove all document checks.
Can I pick up with a debit card after paying online?
Only if the branch’s pickup rules permit it for your age, vehicle and documents. MIA policies can require return travel, matching identification, credit screening and a deposit. A prepaid debit or gift card can be acceptable for a payment yet unsuitable as a pickup credential.
What makes an airport rental quote comparable?
Use matching dates, hours, car group, driver age and return location. Compare the complete charge with airport fees, chosen cover, additional drivers, fuel and toll terms. Separate the security hold from the rental cost and compare cancellation terms from the original booking channel.
How we selected these places
We assessed the eleven existing MIA branch selections using current operator pages, local rental-policy sheets, official FAQs and the airport authority’s RCC route. The airport directory carries an older update label; current operator contacts and schedules take precedence. Each branch’s local terms govern its driver, payment and return arrangements. We grouped choices by published access, hours, service eligibility and transfer arrangements. Conflicting return, deposit and toll wording is qualified rather than silently resolved. No visits, rental tests, calls, bookings, matched-date price survey or independent human service review are claimed.
