The forty-kilometre walking system

The trail’s own site describes a forty-kilometre route around Metsovo, divided into four sections, with the municipality as management/financing operator and the local athletic club and volunteers involved in maintenance. It records a 2016 Leading Quality Trails recognition from the European Ramblers’ Association. That dated award and the separate annual running event do not establish current path conditions or race access.

A nine-kilometre guided section

Trekking Hellas’ four-hour loop starts at the Fallen Cavalrymen monument at Metsovo’s northwest entrance, visiting Karakoli, Politsioura and the Kalligomeno Aloni ridge before returning. The product lists +445m ascent, age seven-plus and basic fitness, with guide, poles, taxes and liability insurance. Published prices are €25 per person with four participants, €35 with three, or €50 with two; they apply to this section, not the entire Ursa Trail.
