Best Sushi Restaurants in Venice: Historic Centre, Lido and Mestre (2026)

Which sushi restaurant should you choose in Venice?

Start with Mirai for a sushi dinner at Hotel Principe or Basara for a Dorsoduro reservation. Choose Osteria Giorgione da Masa for Japanese-Venetian small plates, raw fish and a whole-table tasting; Itaria is our Mestre pick for a defined fusion-sushi tasting. LiVe serves the Lido. Match the menu to your evening and location before making the journey.

A shortlist for different meals

These best-for choices cover Venice’s historic centre, Lido and Mestre. They distinguish sushi-led restaurants from broader Japanese cooking; Kanpei appears separately as an izakaya-style Asian alternative. The order groups practical choices rather than representing customer ratings or a comparative tasting.

Sushi and Japanese dining choices

  • Osteria Giorgione da Masa

    A Japanese-Venetian destination dinner

Osteria Giorgione da Masa is our choice for a Japanese-Venetian dinner built around small plates, raw fish and cooked dishes. Its menu includes prawn gyoza, handmade udon and grilled-eel cirashi. The current MICHELIN Guide lists the restaurant and describes its combination of Japanese home cooking and Venetian cicchetti.

Reservations are required. Dinner runs in two-hour sittings starting at 19:00/19:15 or 21:00/21:15. The chef tasting is €72 per person for the whole table, except children, with drinks excluded and a separate €4 cover. Ask about larger parties: general group restrictions and the six-person tasting provision need to be reconciled when booking.

  • Basara – Venezia

    A Dorsoduro sushi reservation

Basara Venezia is the Dorsoduro branch on Calle Lunga San Barnaba, where it moved from San Marco in 2020. Choose it for a contemporary Japanese lunch or dinner in this neighbourhood, with takeaway and delivery also offered.

The branch publishes Tuesday–Sunday service, 12:00–14:30 and 19:00–23:30. Declare a dog when reserving: the operator cannot guarantee admission if other dogs are booked that day. Request the current Venice menu for specific rolls and confirm delivery coverage for the actual address.

  • Mirai

A sushi dinner at Hotel Principe

Mirai is Hotel Principe’s Japanese restaurant, with a Grand Canal setting at Lista di Spagna, Cannaregio 146. Choose it for a hotel-restaurant dinner with sushi, sashimi and cooked alternatives rather than using the company’s separate contact address as your destination.

The linked menu includes Tai Maki with salmon, prawn and sea urchin, plus tempura and a vegetarian mix. The hotel publishes dinner from Tuesday to Sunday, 19:00–23:00, and restaurant reservations on +39 041 2206517. A canal-side or terrace table needs a specific request and confirmation.

  • Itaria Extraordinary Sushi

A defined fusion-sushi tasting in Mestre

Itaria is our Mestre starting choice for diners who want a defined fusion-sushi tasting format. Its Mix Selection lists four crispy-rice pieces, six special nigiri and twelve uramaki, served per person.

The €36 Mix Selection is designed for every guest at the table to choose, and the menu separately lists €3 service. À-la-carte and lunch menus are distinct. A vegan tasting and a Wagyu tasting also appear, but their names do not establish identical conditions or allergy-safe preparation. Agree the actual format as a party.

  • Yuga Sushi

    À-la-carte sushi in eastern Castello

Yuga suits an eastern Castello meal when your party wants à-la-carte Japanese and Chinese dishes. Its Yuga uramaki combines prawn tempura with tuna tartare, spicy mayonnaise, teriyaki and tempura crumbs.

The fried prawn does not make that entire roll cooked: tuna tartare remains part of the recipe. The operator distinguishes restaurant opening to 23:00 from kitchen service to 22:30. Check the chosen roll’s ingredients and the actual delivery area rather than treating all sushi or all ordering channels alike.

  • Hana Kaze Sushi Lounge

Sushi and noodles in central Mestre

Hana Kaze is a central Mestre alternative for a party mixing sushi with hot noodles. Its operator lists nigiri, sashimi, gunkan and uramaki alongside ramen and noodles, with a separate lunch menu.

The published schedule is Tuesday–Saturday 12:00–15:00 and 19:00–23:00, Sunday dinner only, and Monday closed. Choose the lunch or dinner menu for your occasion; a menu category alone does not establish a particular roll recipe or a fixed-price offer.

  • LiVe Sushi Bar

    A Lido fusion-sushi dinner

LiVe Sushi Bar is the Lido option for seasonal sashimi and fusion uramaki. Its Via Giusto Fuga address makes it a different travel decision from a historic-centre or Mestre restaurant.

The operator publishes Tuesday–Sunday dinner, 18:00–23:00, with Monday closed. It advertises a transfer to and from the Santa Maria Elisabetta vaporetto landing for reserved dinners arriving from Venice; arrange the pickup and return when booking. Vegetarian and gluten-free alternatives need dish-specific discussion.

  • Mimio Sushi

    Itemised sushi ordering in Mestre

Mimio Sushi offers an itemised Mestre ordering menu with both fish mixes and more elaborate rolls. Vietnam Roll combines prawn tempura with Philadelphia cheese, mango, almonds, shiso and sauce; the dairy and nuts are material ingredients.

The ordering page gives delivery windows ending at 14:30 for lunch and 22:30 for dinner, compared with 15:00 and 23:00 for collection. Confirm delivery coverage and the chosen ordering format. Dine-in fixed menus and à-la-carte orders should be checked as separate purchases.

  • You Sushi

A mixed Chinese-and-Japanese meal in Mestre

You Sushi is a Mestre choice for a group that wants both Japanese and Chinese dishes. The operator describes handmade ravioli and provides separate lunch, dinner and à-la-carte menu links.

Choose the actual menu before comparing costs or quantity rules; three menu headings alone do not establish all-you-can-eat terms. The operator also advertises takeaway, delivery and dietary alternatives. Confirm the selected dish, preparation and current ordering coverage rather than extending a general menu label to every recipe.

Broader-menu alternatives

  • Kanpei

A broader izakaya-style meal near Campo Santa Margherita

Kanpei is an izakaya-inspired restaurant at Dorsoduro 3740, drawing on Japanese, Chinese and Korean cooking. It suits someone in your party who wants a broader Asian meal beyond a conventional sushi selection.

Treat it as a related alternative to the sushi choices above. The operator’s stated identity does not establish a specialist sushi menu. Its contact page gives +39 346 6953567; use the current menu for individual dishes and any student promotion conditions.

Choose the dinner format and the journey

For a conventional sushi selection in the historic centre, compare Mirai’s mixes with Basara’s current Venice menu. For a more varied Japanese-Venetian dinner, Masa offers cicheti, eel cirashi and cooked dishes as well as raw fish. MICHELIN recognition supports that restaurant’s attributed distinction; it does not make every item a sushi roll or establish a customer-rating winner.

A tasting price is not a shared platter price. Itaria’s Mix Selection is €36 per person plus €3 service: €78 for two before drinks or extras. Masa’s chef tasting is €72 per person plus a separate €4 cover: €152 for two before drinks or extras. These are different meals and formats, not a cheapest-sushi or quality comparison.

Stay within the area that fits your evening: historic-centre dining, a Lido journey or Mestre on the mainland. LiVe’s advertised transfer starts from the Lido’s Santa Maria Elisabetta vaporetto landing and must be arranged with the dinner; it does not replace the Venice–Lido crossing. For delivery, use the actual address and cutoff, especially Mimio’s earlier delivery windows.

Dining questions

Which is best for a distinctive Japanese dinner in Venice?

Masa is our starting choice for Japanese-Venetian cicheti, raw fish and cooked dishes, with a current MICHELIN listing. Mirai or Basara better suit someone seeking a more conventional sushi restaurant. These are choices by format, rather than a tasted-quality league table.

Which sushi option should I compare in Mestre?

Start with Itaria for its defined per-person fusion tasting. Compare Hana Kaze for sushi and hot noodles, Mimio for its itemised ordering menu, or You Sushi for a mixed Chinese-and-Japanese meal.

Are all the restaurants in the historic centre?

No. LiVe is on Lido; Itaria, Hana Kaze, Mimio and You Sushi are in Mestre. Kanpei is a broader Dorsoduro Asian alternative. Plan the area and return journey before reserving.

Can I assume a tempura roll contains no raw fish?

No. Yuga’s named uramaki combines prawn tempura with tuna tartare. Read the whole recipe and discuss the actual dish rather than relying on one cooked ingredient.

How we chose these restaurants

We selected existing Venice-area candidates by their documented food, location and dining format. The recommendations express editorial fit, without numerical scores, customer-rating comparisons or a comparative tasting. Sources and menus were read on 8 and 16 October 2026, with each source’s check date listed below. No reservation, order or firsthand visit was made.
