Sal Mestiza adds a Lagasca cantina for sharing plates, agave cocktails and private gatherings.

Barracuda MX
Pacific Mexican cooking near Puerta de Alcalá
At Valenzuela 7, Barracuda MX combines coastal Mexican dishes with Spanish ingredients. The dining-room menu lists oysters, ceviches, seafood guacamoles and sea bass a la talla, as well as beef, pork and an eggplant taco. A coastal focus does not make every preparation seafood-only.
Choose Barracuda MX for Pacific Mexican cooking near Retiro. Match the menu to the time: the operator publishes a reduced selection between 16:00 and 19:30.

Comal tortillas and contemporary shared dishes
Ticuí is a sister restaurant of Puntarena with its own address, dining setting and reservation channel. Its published concept centres on handmade corn tortillas cooked on a comal and contemporary plates for sharing. Fish, crab and octopus are among the described preparations.
Choose Ticuí for comal tortillas and contemporary Mexican sharing dishes. Use its own reservation route and the service for your date; sister restaurant Puntarena has different arrangements.

La Única
A northern-Mexican cantina opposite Retiro
La Única’s northern-Mexican cantina concept pairs tacos, seafood and grilled meats with cocktails and music. Its operator-linked menu also lists vegetables and salads, with dairy or meat in some preparations; the file’s 2023 upload path does not establish today’s full menu.
Choose La Única for a contemporary cantina meal opposite Retiro. Use the current Alcalá 87 address and distinguish ordinary dining, weekday breakfast and weekend brunch.

-
Mawey Taco Bar
Contemporary tacos at Mawey’s Olid branch
Mawey’s menu combines tacos with beef, pork, duck, chicken, fish or seafood, plus sharing dishes such as huitlacoche quesadillas with Oaxaca cheese. Many options are listed as two units, alongside cocktails, agave spirits and non-alcoholic drinks.
Choose the Olid 6 branch for contemporary tacos and a low- or high-table meal. Sunday opening is inconsistent across the operator’s pages, and gluten-free adaptations retain a shared-kitchen warning.

Match the meal to the venue and service
Barracuda MX, Puntarena and Ticuí share Mexican coastal influences but have different menus, addresses and booking arrangements. Barracuda’s reduced afternoon menu and Puntarena’s separate bar service are material planning distinctions.
La Única’s current home is Alcalá 87. Can Chan Chán is at Serrano 47, separate from other restaurants in that building and the chef’s earlier projects. Tepic and Entre Suspiro y Suspiro publish day-specific kitchen or meal windows.
Taquería del Alamillo is named by its operator group, while the older tourism listing does not establish today’s complete menu or service. Mawey’s Olid branch has a Sunday-opening conflict and an explicit shared-kitchen notice. Sal Mestiza is the separate cantina at Lagasca 103, not MESTIZA in Valencia.
Questions before you choose
Does Barracuda MX serve its full menu throughout opening hours?
The operator lists a reduced menu from 16:00 to 19:30 within its longer opening day. Its weekday lunchtime and group menus are separate formats, so select the menu for the service you want.
Is a Puntarena bar booking the same as a restaurant table?
The operator provides separate bar and table reservation links. Restaurant service has lunch and evening windows, while the bar is listed continuously from 13:00 to midnight. Select the actual format and menu.
Where is La Única in Madrid now?
The operator identifies Alcalá 87 opposite Retiro as its current home and dates the move to 2025. Weekday breakfast and weekend brunch have distinct published windows within the restaurant’s longer opening day.
Can one Mawey branch’s hours or seating be applied to another?
Mawey publishes separate branch locations and arrangements. Olid offers low- and high-table settings, and its own pages disagree about Sunday opening. Use the exact branch and date when reserving.
Are Sal Mestiza in Madrid and MESTIZA in Valencia the same restaurant?
Sal Mestiza is the Mexican cantina at Lagasca 103 in Madrid, operated by Grupo La Bikina SL. MESTIZA in Valencia is a separate venue. Use the Madrid operator and its own menu and event arrangements.
Does a chef’s former award establish the current award of another restaurant?
Awards apply to the named restaurant and period. Punto MX’s former Michelin star does not become a star for Barracuda MX or Can Chan Chán. Current MICHELIN listings are cited only for the exact venues they describe.
Does published room capacity or a terrace guarantee seating for my group?
Capacity and a described terrace are different from an available reservation. Request the actual space, party size and menu, then agree any deposit, cancellation or table-time conditions.
Do gluten-free adaptations at Mawey guarantee no traces?
Mawey explicitly describes a shared kitchen and says it cannot guarantee absence of traces. Its adaptation options and allergen labels need a preparation discussion for the chosen dishes.
How we selected these places
We compared current restaurant and host-operator pages, menus, contact details, branch information and relevant independent venue listings.
