Best Restaurants in Chania (2026)
Which Chania restaurant fits the meal you want?
Choose Chrisostomos for Sfakian wood-oven dishes or Mon.Es for a Cretan-influenced dinner in a Venetian building. Salis, Pallas and Glossitses offer different harbour meals, Kertos is beside Nea Chora beach, Tamam brings Greek and Eastern Mediterranean influences, and Maiami combines art with a varied Koum Kapi brasserie menu. Match the service time and dining area to your visit. Serenissima remains separately documented for hotel breakfast, with current public dinner unverified.

How to use this shortlist
These ten restaurant choices cover Chania Old Town and harbour, Splantzia, Nea Chora and Koum Kapi. Compare the meal, exact location and service window. Serenissima appears separately with hotel-breakfast information and the limits on current public dinner and non-resident access. Published menus and hours can change, so confirm the actual meal, table and date.

Ten Chania restaurants for different meals
-
Salis Chania
Contemporary seafood and a wider seasonal menu on the Old Harbour
Salis is a wine restaurant at 3 Akti Enoseos on Chania’s Old Harbour. Its seasonal menu pairs seafood dishes with meat, pasta and a vegan-labelled ravioli option, within a broader contemporary Cretan and local-producer approach.
The main-course examples reviewed on 18 October 2026 include sea bass in ladokolla at €28, shrimp spaghetti and corbfish fillet at €32 each, and vegan-labelled pumpkin ravioli at €26. These are individual dishes rather than a whole-meal budget. Sea bass includes feta and nut milk; the ravioli includes black sesame, so discuss preparation and dietary needs.
The site advertises 12:00–00:00 and publishes wine, local-producer and separate catering information. Request the Old Harbour location at 3 Akti Enoseos and the intended table; the separately promoted Koum Kapi sister venue and a harbour-facing seat are separate arrangements.

Mon.Es Restaurant Chania
Dinner with Cretan influences in a Venetian Old Town setting
Mon.Es Restaurant Chania is the dinner restaurant in Monastery Estate’s Venetian Harbor premises in Chania Old Town. It combines Cretan and traditional Greek influences with international ideas in a historic Venetian building.
The Chania restaurant serves dinner only, 17:00–23:00, at Parodos 4th Kallinikou Sarpaki 40. MonEs Tavern and the group’s properties near Sougia are separate destinations. Its menu includes ntakos, boureki croquettes, Cretan pasta, seafood and meat; lamb at €28 and catch of the day at €29 were individual examples reviewed on 18 October.
Some ingredients are described as coming from the group’s own limited production, rather than every ingredient. Use the operator-linked Chania dinner booking route for the intended date and guest arrangements; the profile identifies the separate directory source for the restaurant telephone.

-
Pallas Chania
Seafood and a wider harbour meal in a chosen dining space
Pallas Chania combines ground-floor seafront dining, first-floor indoor and balcony spaces, and the seasonal Thealassa rooftop on the Venetian Harbour. Food, wine, cocktails and all-day choices sit within a broader Mediterranean menu with Cretan influences.
Choose the ground-floor seafront, first-floor indoor or balcony area, or Thealassa rooftop explicitly. The rooftop is advertised for April–October dinner from 19:00 daily; main-site pages disagree between 07:00 and 08:00 opening. Check the selected area, kitchen and weather arrangements rather than transferring all-day hours to the roof.
The dinner menu reviewed on 18 October includes prawn pasta at €22 and lobster orzo at €38 alongside octopus, squid and meat. Some vegetarian or vegan markers appear beside meat or dairy ingredients, so discuss the actual dish. Coffee, cocktails, wine and an evening Japanese offer broaden the visit; neighbouring Philocaly and Lithografeion are separately named spaces.

To Maridaki
Daily-market seafood in Splantzia, away from the harbour tables
To Maridaki is a fish and seafood eatery at 33 Daskalogianni Street in Splantzia, Chania Old Town. Its menu follows the fish market, weather and season, with vegetables, legumes and some meat dishes alongside the seafood.
At Daskalogianni 33, choose from the actual fish display and agree the catch, portion, price unit and grilled, fried or baked preparation. Seafood availability follows market, weather and season; vegetables, legumes and some meat dishes broaden the meal. Preordered takeaway is a separate arrangement.
Published service is Monday–Saturday 12:00–00:00, with Sunday closed. The operator lists house and bottled wine, raki, ouzo, beer, Wi-Fi, accessible entry and an accessible toilet. Confirm the route and facilities for your needs; those published details are not an independent access inspection or a laptop-work policy.

Chrisostomos Restaurant Chania
Traditional Sfakian and Cretan dishes from a wood-fired oven
Chrisostomos is a Cretan restaurant at Defkalionos and Ikarou in Chania’s Anatoliki Tafros area. Its cooking centres on Sfakian influences, wood-fired oven dishes, local greens and a wider menu of meat, vegetables and seafood.
Menu examples reviewed on 18 October include mutton in paper with feta and garlic at €15.50 and a 500 g Ofto lamb portion at €25. Lamb with stamnagathi, staka with eggs, seafood and vegetable dishes broaden the Sfakian wood-oven meal. These are dish and portion examples, not a complete meal quotation.
Gemista comes with yogurt and fried potatoes, and boureki contains cheese, so vegetable-based names do not establish vegan preparation. Published hours are Monday and Wednesday–Sunday 13:00–23:45, with Tuesday closed, at Defkalionos and Ikarou in Anatoliki Tafros.

Tamam Restaurant Chania
Greek and Eastern Mediterranean food in a historic Old Town setting
Tamam Restaurant Chania is at 49 Zampeliou in the Old Town. Founded in 1982 in a former bath building, it describes traditional Greek family cooking with Ottoman and wider Eastern Mediterranean influences, alongside Greek wine with an emphasis on Crete.
Ask for the current seafood choices and prices if that is the meal you want; the broader cuisine description does not establish a dated fish menu.
The operator describes past music, screenings and exhibitions. Check the current programme if an event matters to your visit, and confirm the meal period, table and booking terms through the restaurant’s contact or linked reservation route.

Kertos Seafood Restaurant Chania
Seafood and Cretan dishes beside Nea Chora beach
Kertos Seafood Restaurant is at 6 Akti Papanikoli on Nea Chora beach, outside Chania’s Old Harbour restaurant cluster. It offers fish and seafood with Cretan appetisers, salads, pasta, risotto, meat and children’s choices, alongside separately presented beach and brunch services.
At Akti Papanikoli 6, the menu distinguishes portions, fish sold per kilo and seafood platters for two or four people. Agree the available catch, weight or serving size, cooking method and current price. Cretan appetisers, salads, pasta, risotto, meat and children’s choices offer alternatives.
The operator advertises daily 10:00–01:00, without establishing a yearly operating calendar or every kitchen cutoff. Specify a restaurant table, beach seating or brunch, since these have separately presented menus and arrangements. Discuss sauces and ingredients rather than treating vegetable or seafood titles as allergy controls.

The Well of the Turk Chania
Mediterranean and Middle Eastern evening dining in the Splantzia quarter
The Well of the Turk brings Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food to Kallinikou Sarpaki 1–3 in Chania’s Old Town. Its own 31 March 2026 post announces the 2026 season and evening service; current public contact details match the existing restaurant. Closing times differ between that post and Facebook, so confirm the kitchen and service window for the intended date.
The public operator details list K. Sarpaki 1–3 in Splantzia, +30 28210 54547 and welloftheturk@gmail.com, with restaurant/bar, outdoor seating and pickup information. Its Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine and music give it a different purpose from a seafood-only meal; exact dishes, prices and access arrangements need an enquiry.
The season announcement gives daily 18:00–23:30, while the public Facebook hours list 18:00–01:00. Both support an evening start but leave the closing time, kitchen and intended date to confirm. No annual season end is supplied. Current operator links are provided in the profile.

Maiami Chania
An art-studio brasserie and varied casual menu in Koum Kapi
Maiami Chania is Alexandra Manousakis’ art studio and brasserie at Akti Miaouli and Mesologgiou 11 in Koum Kapi. Its menu combines pizzas, sharing dishes, pasta, lentil stew, seafood and meat, with dining-room and delivery schedules published separately.
Individual menu examples reviewed on 18 October are Margarita pizza at €10, black lentil stew at €13 and sautéed sea bass at €22, alongside 72-hour fermented pizza dough, sharing mezze, pasta and meat. The artist’s ceramics are used at the table; dairy, nuts and mussels with pork ’nduja remain relevant to ingredient discussions.
At Akti Miaouli and Mesologgiou 11, the published dining room is Friday–Saturday 18:00–00:00 and Sunday 13:00–23:00, with Monday–Tuesday closed. Wolt delivery is separately Wednesday–Sunday; Wednesday or Thursday delivery does not establish dining-room service. Confirm the chosen day and service, including holiday changes.

Glossitses
A harbour meal with seafood, Greek meze and a wider mixed menu
Glossitses at Akti Enoseos 4 combines harbour seafood with Greek meze, meat dishes, pasta, rice dishes and a separate gluten-free menu. Its current operator site lists daily 10:00–01:00 venue hours, which differ from the booking platform’s 11:00–midnight. Check the kitchen, actual menu prices and any dietary preparation directly; the menu’s gluten-free label alone does not resolve every ingredient or cross-contact question.
The broader menu includes meze such as hummus, fava, taramas, aubergine with feta and cheeses; fish, shellfish, octopus, meat and snails; pasta, pilafi and risotto; plus wine, cocktails, coffee and desserts. Sea bream, sea bass and mussels labelled 500 g are portions, while mixed seafood is described for two people. The reviewed menus do not show numeric dish prices.
Its separate gluten-free menu includes mussels in wine or beer and other ingredient questions, so confirm the chosen recipe, beer and preparation rather than assuming every variant suits a gluten-free diet. The operator describes tailored private and corporate dining separately, without a fixed package.
The restaurant’s direct reservation section is distinct from e-restaurants. The platform lists 11:00–00:00 rather than the operator’s 10:00–01:00; neither is a verified kitchen cutoff. Platform bookings require SMS or email confirmation. Its published terms require phone cancellation through the platform during call-centre hours at least two hours before; time or party-size changes have a two-hour limit, and a date change requires cancellation and a new request. Confirm the terms for the route you choose.

Serenissima Restaurant Chania — current status
Serenissima’s current dining page describes the hotel’s breakfast area at Skoufon 4 in Chania Old Town. It advertises an à la carte Cretan breakfast from 07:30 to 10:30; the older fine-dining restaurant description does not establish a current public dinner service.
Breakfast examples include Sfakian pie with honey, marathopita, kaltsounia, eggs and local dairy. Ask the hotel whether non-residents can book and confirm the price and inclusions. Enquire separately about any dinner service; Serenissima is outside the ten general restaurant choices above.
Start with the meal and the intended service
For Cretan food, compare Chrisostomos’ Sfakian wood-oven dishes with Mon.Es’ dinner-only restaurant. The Well of the Turk adds Middle Eastern and Mediterranean evening food, while Tamam has broader Greek and Eastern Mediterranean influences in a historic Old Town setting.
For fish, To Maridaki follows the daily market; Salis pairs seafood with a wider seasonal menu and wine. Pallas requires a choice of dining floor and seasonal rooftop, Glossitses has a broad Greek-Mediterranean menu and separate gluten-free list, and Kertos combines a Nea Chora restaurant with separately presented beach and brunch services. Confirm catch, portion and price units.
Maiami’s art-studio brasserie in Koum Kapi has different dining-room and delivery days. Serenissima’s hotel breakfast remains a separate original selection with public dinner and non-resident access unverified. Match each timetable to the actual service, rather than relying on a general restaurant label.
Menu labels do not resolve preparation or allergy handling. Ask about the chosen recipe, dining area, access and booking conditions. The cover is an editorial illustration, while the groups express fit for different meals rather than a firsthand tasting or measured quality league table.
Questions before you choose
Is Mon.Es open for lunch?
The operator lists dinner only, 17:00–23:00, at the Chania Old Town Venetian Harbor location. Its Sougia venues and Moni Village properties are separate. Confirm the intended date, menu and guest arrangements.
Is the Pallas rooftop open whenever its ground floor is open?
No. Thealassa is advertised for April–October dinner from 19:00. Main-site pages disagree between 07:00 and 08:00 opening. Specify the ground floor, indoor or balcony space, or rooftop, and confirm the selected service, seasonal date and weather arrangements.
Does Serenissima’s current restaurant page establish public dinner service?
It describes hotel breakfast from 07:30 to 10:30. A current public dinner menu and outside-guest access are not established. Ask the hotel about non-resident breakfast booking, price and inclusions, and any other meal separately.
Can I assume the same fish is served daily at To Maridaki?
No. The restaurant ties its menu to market availability, weather and season. Agree the actual catch, portion, price unit and preparation before ordering. Published service is Monday–Saturday 12:00–00:00, with Sunday closed; takeaway is a separate arrangement.
Where should I check The Well of the Turk’s current information?
Use the current operator Instagram and Facebook links in the profile rather than the former restaurant domain. The public contact details match K. Sarpaki 1–3 in Splantzia and +30 28210 54547. The dated 2026 season announcement gives 18:00–23:30, while Facebook lists 18:00–01:00, so confirm the current date, kitchen, closing time and menu directly. The earlier domain problem alone did not establish physical closure.
Does Maiami offer Wednesday dine-in because Wolt delivery runs that day?
The contact page separately lists Wednesday–Sunday delivery and dining-room service on Friday–Saturday evenings and Sunday. Wednesday or Thursday delivery does not establish dining-room opening. Confirm the intended service and any holiday changes.
Does Glossitses’ gluten-free menu settle every dietary question?
No. The separate menu includes mussels in wine or beer, so the chosen recipe, beer ingredients and preparation still need confirmation. Discuss cross-contact and other ingredients with staff. The broader restaurant menu also includes meat, dairy, nuts, fish and shellfish.
Are the menu examples a complete meal budget?
No. Salis, Mon.Es, Pallas, Chrisostomos and Maiami examples are individual dishes reviewed on 18 October 2026. Kertos distinguishes per-kilo fish, portions and shared platters, while Glossitses’ 500 g and two-person descriptions are portions without numeric prices in the reviewed menu. Confirm current price, portion, drinks and any additions for the meal you choose.
How we selected these places
We compared published operator menus, exact locations, contacts and service information. Sources reviewed on 18 October 2026 retain that date; Well of the Turk and Glossitses operator and booking sources were reviewed on 20 October. Mon.Es’ telephone is attributed to XO Greek Yellow Pages. The ten choices express editorial fit for different meals, rather than firsthand tasting or an independently measured quality ranking. Serenissima is presented separately for breakfast and dining enquiries. No reservation, purchase, visit or independent access or dietary test was performed.
