Top 10 Beaches in Italy (2026)

Which Italian beach fits your trip?

Choose Cala Goloritzé for a Baunei walking day or Cala Mariolu for a planned boat landing. La Pelosa and Tuerredda offer contrasting Sardinian sand bays. Spiaggia dei Conigli brings a Lampedusa reserve visit; San Vito Lo Capo puts the beach beside a Sicilian town. Sansone brings Elba’s white pebbles, Baia del Silenzio a Ligurian town setting, Baia delle Zagare Gargano’s sea stacks, and Marina dell’Isola Tropea’s sanctuary backdrop.

How to use this shortlist

These ten beaches are grouped by the coast and kind of day they suit. Top 10 is an editorial shortlist, without a measured beauty, popularity or swimming-safety score. Information was reviewed on 17 October 2026. Seasonal notices matter: La Pelosa’s published booking period ended on 15 October, Tuerredda’s listed services ended from 12 October, and Spiaggia dei Conigli’s controlled-access period runs through 18 October. Later seasons need their own published arrangements.

For a walking or boat day on Baunei’s coast

For pale-sand Sardinian bays

For a Sicilian town beach or Lampedusa reserve

For an Elba cove or a Ligurian town bay

For Gargano sea stacks and Tropea’s landmark coast

Plan the approach as well as the beach

Start with the coast already on your itinerary. Baunei’s coves suit a planned walking or boat day; Sestri Levante and San Vito Lo Capo put the beach beside a town. Lampedusa and Elba are separate island journeys, rather than add-ons to a mainland afternoon.

For access, distinguish the route onto the sand from usable water access and available help. Narrow or steep paths, a hotel lift and a municipal walkway answer different needs. Arrange any assistance for the exact entrance and date.

Use the dated reserve or municipal notice for admission and facilities. A beach reservation, parking space, rental or coastal cruise does not automatically include the other services. Follow local swimming flags, closures and habitat signs, take water where services are absent, and plan a reliable return.

Questions before you choose

Do all these Italian beaches allow walk-in access?

No. Spiaggia dei Conigli’s 2026 system has booked sessions and a limited on-site allocation. La Pelosa and Tuerredda publish dated summer booking schemes, now ended. Other choices involve trail arrangements, permitted landings or hotel/visitor-pass access. Use the exact beach and visit date.

Is Spiaggia dei Conigli a serviced beach club?

No. Its reserve manager reports no rescue service, medical post, toilets, refreshments or water points inside the reserve. Bring water, use permitted areas and follow the equipment rules. Its linked platform gives dated session and arrival deadlines.

When does Tuerredda release its reservations?

The platform’s main notices say the previous day at 08:00, although a lower explanation still says the second following day. That information belongs to the ended 2026 season. The newer municipal notice ended access management and listed services from 12 October; use the next dated notice/calendar for a later visit.

Can I drive directly to Cala Goloritzé or casually walk to Cala Mariolu?

Cala Goloritzé’s land approach is a substantial descent and return ascent from Su Porteddu. Cala Mariolu’s published land route is graded EE for experienced walkers. Choose a suitable guided route or an actual permitted boat landing and reliable return; the two coves have different sea-access restrictions.

Does La Pelosa admission include a lounger or parking?

The published 2026 charge concerns beach access, with separate parking and equipment arrangements. Its booking period ended on 15 October. For a later visit, use the official platform’s new dates, payment conditions and sand-protection rules rather than assuming the old fee applies.

Do accessible walkways or shallow-water descriptions guarantee suitability?

No. San Vito Lo Capo publishes walkways, and Sestri Levante lists an accessible beach at Baia del Silenzio. The exact route, usable equipment and assistance still depend on the visit. Follow current local flags, conditions and staff advice for swimming.

How we selected these places

We selected these ten beaches for distinct coast locations, town or natural settings, sand and pebble shores, landscape features and practical visit formats. Official tourism, municipal and reserve sources support the identities and access differences; Villa Paola’s local destination guide helps identify Marina dell’Isola. These are editorial recommendations, without customer-score ranking or firsthand testing. We did not visit, assess a mobility route, test water quality, book admission or rent equipment.
