Best Romantic Restaurants in Rome (2026)

Which romantic Rome restaurant should you choose?

Start with Aroma for a Colosseum-facing occasion, La Pergola for Heinz Beck’s three-star destination cooking, or Adelaide for an intimate room and a planted patio. Imàgo and La Terrazza add skyline tasting dinners; Mirabelle brings a classic roof-garden setting. Choose Enoteca La Torre for a villa room, Casa Coppelle for Italian–French food and theatrical design, Niko Romito for a Mausoleum-facing terrace, or Ducasse at ROMEO for a contemporary menu-led evening. Select the meal and actual table together, then reserve for the party’s needs.

How to use this shortlist

Ten romantic-dining choices in Rome, compared by food, dining space, occasion and reservation conditions. Best means an editorial best-for choice within this shortlist, not an exhaustive city-wide rating league or a measured romance score. Named MICHELIN distinctions are separate from hotel stars and customer reviews. Hotel stays, bars, brunches and private rooms are distinct bookings.

Choose the meal, then agree the table and terms

For the Colosseum, start with Aroma. For a food-led milestone compare La Pergola, Imàgo, La Terrazza and Enoteca La Torre; their menus, room styles and admission rules differ. Mirabelle and Niko Romito make different Rome landmarks part of the occasion, while Adelaide, Casa Coppelle and ROMEO offer intimate, theatrical or contemporary alternatives.

Agree dietary suitability, the shared menu, table or weather alternative, arrival time and cancellation route before treating the plan as confirmed. Compare the total bill including drinks, service and supplements. A hotel stay, chef’s name or terrace photograph does not settle those details.

Compare the actual menu and its bill basis

These published examples describe different meals and inclusions, rather than a cheapest-restaurant ranking. Confirm the current menu and reservation total for the date, especially where service or pairing is separate.

Plan the party, arrival and season

Aroma’s age-ten minimum, La Terrazza’s over six wording and Imàgo’s mixed age-eight wording matter for family celebrations. La Pergola’s FAQ welcomes supervised children ideally from approximately six, with simple dishes on request. No universal age or allergy policy applies to the ten choices.

For a January 2027 trip, Imàgo lists 3–20 January inclusive and La Terrazza 10–25 January as closed. La Pergola gives seasonal closure lengths without exact dates. Imàgo’s final-entry wording also differs between pages. Obtain the actual service, arrival and dietary response instead of treating an online listing as a confirmed booking.

Questions before you choose

Which selections have a published panoramic dining setting?

La Pergola, Imàgo and La Terrazza describe city panoramas; Aroma faces the Colosseum. Mirabelle has a named skyline, while Il Ristorante – Niko Romito Roma faces the Mausoleum of Augustus. Ask for the actual table and weather arrangement. Enoteca La Torre’s garden-facing villa room, Adelaide’s patio and the design-led rooms at Casa Coppelle and ROMEO offer different settings.

What cancellation conditions does Imàgo publish?

The current booking page gives a 48-hour penalty-free change/cancellation deadline, with €230 per guest for late cancellation, no-show or an unnotified reduction in party size. It requires changes/cancellations by email to imago@hotelhassler.it. Confirm the exact terms attached to your reservation.

Can children join every restaurant in this comparison?

No universal rule applies. Aroma admits children from ten and La Terrazza says over six. Imàgo uses both from eight and above eight, so clarify a child exactly eight. La Pergola’s linked FAQ welcomes children ideally from approximately six under supervision, without a dedicated children’s menu. Ask the other restaurants about the actual party.

Do guests need to choose the same tasting menu?

Imàgo requires the same tasting for the table; Enoteca La Torre requires tastings for the whole party, while only suggesting them for groups of five or more. La Terrazza and Niko Romito publish whole-table tastings, and Adelaide’s Pachamama is also for everyone. Agree the format and dietary response in advance.

Is Casa Coppelle’s Boudoir ordinary à-la-carte seating?

The operator dedicates the black-and-gold Boudoir to tasting-menu guests. Request that room and menu explicitly; an ordinary à-la-carte booking does not guarantee it.

Does a chef’s name guarantee their attendance or dietary substitutions?

No. Gabriele Gervasi leads the Niko Romito Roma kitchen as resident head chef, while Iacopo Iualè is executive chef at Il Ristorante Alain Ducasse Roma. Discuss the actual meal and dietary needs with the restaurant. A chef’s name or plant-focused menu does not establish personal attendance, substitutions or vegan ingredients.

Which romantic Rome restaurant should we start with?

Start with Aroma for the Colosseum, La Pergola for a three-star destination meal, or Adelaide for an intimate room and planted patio. Imàgo and La Terrazza add skyline tastings; choose Casa Coppelle for Italian–French food and theatrical design. Pick the menu and actual seating together.

How should we compare tasting-menu costs?

Compare per-diner amounts and inclusions. La Pergola’s linked seven-course menu is €295 per person; Imàgo is €230 excluding beverages and has separate discretionary service. La Terrazza lists €195/€210 per-person tastings plus separate pairings and a discretionary 6 percent charge. Niko Romito’s €150/€190 per-person routes include water, coffee, VAT and service, with paired versions separate. Casa Coppelle and Adelaide offer different lower-priced formats; these are not matched meals or a cheapest-restaurant league.

What should we check for a La Pergola occasion?

The linked FAQ requires a men’s jacket and a card guarantee, gives a 72-hour change/cancellation deadline and describes dinner Tuesday–Saturday from 19:00 with last order 21:00. Explain dietary needs and the party; à-la-carte dining is limited to up to three guests. Confirm the actual table, menu and seasonal closure dates.

Are any January 2027 closures published?

Imàgo lists 3–20 January 2027 inclusive, while La Terrazza lists 10–25 January 2027. La Pergola’s undated FAQ describes three-week January and August closures without exact dates. Confirm service for your date rather than assuming every restaurant follows the same calendar.

How we selected these places

Sarah Haddad is the responsible author. This desk-researched comparison groups ten Rome restaurants by food, dining space and occasion. Operator pages, currently linked menus and booking terms were reviewed on 23 October 2026; MICHELIN’s 2026 star selection and its 13 October 2026 romantic selection are attributed separately. Best reflects editorial meal-and-setting fit, not a common customer score or a measured city-wide ranking. We have not visited or tasted these meals. Actual table allocation, seasonal service, dietary adaptations and reservation terms require agreement with the restaurant.
